Pastor’s Piece

“Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Should I forgive as many as seven times?”  Jesus said, “Not just seven times, but rather as many as seventy-seven times.”           Matthew 18:21-22

Forgiveness- we all want it for ourselves, but it sure can be difficult to forgive others sometimes.  And then Jesus goes and does what He does time and time again- He takes a difficult lesson and makes it nearly impossible.  We’re supposed to forgive every person we know 77 times?  Jesus can’t be serious can He?

Perhaps you’ll remember that back in November I asked for suggestions of sermons and series ideas that you would invite a friend to?  This series on conflict, peace, and forgiveness came out as one of the major suggestions from our congregation- you all helped design this series!  So, you have told me that there may absolutely be friends of yours who would benefit from this next sermon.  I hope that you will invite someone you know who might be struggling with forgiveness to come to church with you on Sunday as we talk about faith and forgiveness, and what it truly means to live with a heart that is at peace.

Blessings,

Pastor Andy
