Newsletter Week of March 4th

Good News for the Week of March 4th Pastor’s Piece This week we’ll be concluding our sermon series titled “The 5th Gospel.”  We’re looking at the Holy Land through pictures, videos and stories from my recent trip there.  What many of you have told me is that becoming familiar with the places that our scriptures were birthed is giving them renewed meaning and significance in your lives. This week we’ll be diving into two passages of scripture in particular- Mark 4:35-41 and Psalm 23.  I hope that you’ll join us for our final sermon, titled “Fear and Faith.”  Don’t forget that we’re moving our service time to begin at 9:30am this week.  Also, this week we’ll have a chance to meet Tricia Quist who will be preaching at our sister church in Iberia, MO.
Finally, spent part of last week in Saint Louis at the 2019 General Conference for the United Methodist Church.  This was a special called session to address the official positions of the United Methodist Church as they relate to LGBTQ persons and clergy.  The delegates approved a plan that affirms church policies on homosexuality and strengthens the enforcement of those policies. The vote was 438 to 384.  If you haven’t read it yet, click HERE to read the letter that I wrote explaining the proceedings of the General Conference to our congregation last week.
Pastor Andy   Sunday Service Time
Remember, this Sunday we not only begin service at our new 9:30 AM time, but you’ll also want to set your clocks ahead the night before.  It’s time to “Spring Forward” for Daylight Savings Time.
