Newsletter for the Week of November 18th

Pastor’s Piece

What a beautiful time to live at The Lake!  With the holiday season now upon us, it is likely that everyone’s lives are going to be moving a little bit faster in the coming weeks.  I wanted to use my Pastor’s Piece” this week to make sure you don’t miss a few upcoming events.

First, a number of you have been asking me recently how to join the church.  If you would like to join or learn more about Faithbridge, please plan to join me for Coffee with the Pastor at 10 am on Saturday, December 14th at Starbucks (RSVP here).

Also, I wanted to make sure you saw our schedule for the Christmas season while you are making your holiday plans.  We will have regular weekly worship every Sunday at 9:30 am, and December 15th will be extra special as our seasonal choir presents this year’s Christmas Cantata (at our regular 9:30 am time).  You won’t want to miss our candlelight Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, December 24th at 6:30 pm.  If you are going to miss Christmas Eve at Faithbridge for any reason this year, I have an opportunity for you!  This year we are having a “Traveler’s Christmas Eve” service on Wednesday, December 18th at 4:30 pm.  Both services will be a great time to share together in Christmas celebrations with your church family.

Finally, I will personally be leading a Bible study in 2020 that I would like to invite you to consider attending.  It is called “Covenant,” and it will meet on Tuesdays beginning January 7th.  There are more details in the email below.

There are many different ways to get more involved in the life of our church, but the best is always attending worship on Sundays.  Join us this week as we wrap up the sermon series “Thank God” by asking God to give us truly grateful hearts.

Blessings,
Pastor Andy

This week’s reading is Luke 7.

Our reading this week for The Full Gospel Project is Luke chapters 7.  As you read this week, consider the following:

1)  In Luke 7:11-17 we find Jesus nearing the height of His popularity in Israel.  Many people were coming to hear Jesus speak and He was receiving constant invitations to dinner and religious debates.  In the midst of this, He stops and shows compassion on a poor widow who has lost her only son, and Jesus resurrected him.  Jesus had so many important things to do, but He saw an opportunity to show this family compassion.  Who is it that the Holy Spirit is urging you to drop everything in order to show them your compassion?

2)  Luke 7:36-50 is a story about sin and Jesus’ forgiveness.  In this story, a known sinner repeatedly thanks Jesus and expresses love for Him.  This angered the Pharisee’s (aka good church people).  In the end, Jesus tells her, “Your sins are forgiven… your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”  Do you more often react like the Pharisees or respond like Jesus?  How easy is it for you to unconditionally love and forgive others?

Covenant Bible Study
Pastor Andy will be leading the Covenant Bible study in 2020.  Covenant is a study that is great for all stages of faith- from the Bible illiterate to those wanting to take a deeper dive into the understanding and interpretation of scripture and how it forms our Christian faith.  Together, we will walk through the whole Bible in three 8-week modules (a total of 24 weeks) that will be spread throughout the year.  The first module will begin on January 7th and the participant’s guide costs $30.  Please let us know if you’ll plan to attend by Sunday, December 22nd so that we make certain you have the materials for the study.  For more information or to RSVP email Pastor Andy at pastor@faithbridgelakechurch.com.
