Can you be a “Help”?

Faithbridge is starting up a new ministry called the “Care Ministry”.  If a member has a serious need for assistance, maybe you broke your leg and cannot get the mowing done, or your car broke down and you need a ride to church, or you are sick and need a meal, just contact the church office and we’ll see if we can find someone to help.  First we need to see if we have people willing to lend a hand. If you are interested in being on our distribution email when there is a need, if you have some free time and are willing to help out occasionally, just contact the church office and we will add you to the contact list.  This will be new to us all, but we know the care and generosity of our congregation and feel there is a need.  Please let us know if you can help.

The next Hope House Volunteer Days are March 1st (Wed.), 3rd (Fri.), and 4th (Sat) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

 One Big Hill

Faithbridge is beginning a new sermon series, called One Big Hill. Nowhere does Jesus talk more clearly about what it looks like to follow him than in the Sermon on the Mount. It’s a provocative and counter-intuitive announcement about what happens when God shows up: The poor, the meek, and those who mourn are called blessed. Enemies are loved, the poor are cared for, God’s will is done on earth.

This week’s message is “Salt and Light”.

When Jesus talks about salt he says, “You are the salt of the earth.” Salt preserves, purifies, and gives flavor to food. In the same way, the very outcasts and misfits whom Jesus has called blessed will be the ones who act as salt in the world. When Jesus talks about light he says, “You are the light of the world.” In the same way that salt’s place is in food, light is meant for darkness. Light pursues darkness, invades it, permeates it, seeks it out, makes its home there— in doing so, makes it lit.
