Newsletter Week of September 11th

Abby Peper will be preaching this Sunday!

It’s a beautiful day in this neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor! Would you be mine; could you take the time to be mine?  A little twist on Mister Rogers’ theme song leads us into the second week of our Good Neighbor Series.  The book of Ecclesiastes states there is a time for every matter of life, but is there really time for everything? Let’s take a look at the time barrier of being a good neighbor to our literal actual neighbors.  Join us this week as we look at this obstacle in context of the story of Mary and Martha found in Luke 10:38-42.

Two Church Appreciation Nights at the Music Hall

Thursday, October 5th and Friday, October 6th at 8:00 pm

The Main Street Music Hall is offering Faithbridge the opportunity to attend both of their regular season shows. They have generously provided 10 complementary tickets to see the Thursday, Oct 5th show, “REELIN IN THE YEARS”.  These will be available on a first come/first served basis in the church office. Additional church members that wish to attend this show will be extended an offer of “Buy one, Get one Free”. We have also been invited to join them on Friday, Oct 6th, for their traditional show, The Main Street Opry”. This show will be exclusively a “Buy one, Get one Free” opportunity. Both shows offer an evening filled with fun melodies, emotionally charged music, laughter and shared memories that can be enjoyed by audience members of all ages. Their goal is to provide you the opportunity to see first hand the high caliber of entertainment they strive for, and they have continued this spirit of dedication into their 24th Season of Christmas Shows!

Preparations are being made for another joyous season of “Christmas on Main Street”, and they would love to be included in your holiday plans. There will be a special group rate available to our church for the Holidays, and we will let you know as soon as we receive that information.

Remember, for the reduced rate, all tickets must be purchased through the church office. For information, see Tina.

Pastor’s Piece

Kristen and I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone for the warm welcome and great reception that you’ve given our family.  We especially appreciate everyone who     had a part in throwing the baby shower on Sunday for Baby Boy Blacksher #2!  We really were overwhelmed by the support and love we felt as we opened the presents for 3 hours later in the afternoon (with Zachary’s help).  You have truly been such good neighbors to us in these couple of months that we’ve been with you.

God’s challenge to us is to be good neighbors to everyone we meet.  I invite you to join us this month as we’re exploring the Great Commandment – to love God and love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  This week, Abby Peper, our Education Minister, will be sharing about the single greatest excuse we tend to give for not being a good neighbor – I don’t have enough time.  It’s a message that I know I need to hear in my own life over and over again.  I hope you’ll join us.

Blessed to bless,

Pastor Andy
