Newsletter Week of March 22

Good News for Wednesday, March 24th

Pastor’s Piece

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday which, in the church world, is when we remember Jesus’ entry into the city of Jerusalem.  People were waving Palm branches and Jesus rode in on a donkey.  Usually this is preached as the mighty and victorious coming of Jesus, but I think if we look at the text for a moment we’ll see just how much the opposite is true.  Palm Sunday isn’t a celebration so much of victory as it is of humility.  And Jesus taught that following Him in our lives looks like humility at every turn.  Join us online this week to learn what I think Jesus wanted to teach us through the festivities of Palm Sunday.

You may have heard that we will resume offering in-person worship services again on April 4th- Easter Sunday!  As excited as I am to welcome those of you who are ready to return, we’ve got some work that needs to be done to get the building ready for worship.  Please plan to join us for our back-to-in-person-church Work Day on Wednesday, March 31st at 10am.  You can RSVP by replying to this email (although you’re welcome even if you don’t RSVP!), and there is more information below.

As we begin to reopen for in-person worship, we also have a number of ongoing opportunities for you to choose from to serve and help make ministry at Faithbridge possible.

  1. Hospitality Team- This is the team that greets people, serves coffee, and makes sure you have a great experience at church.  If you would be willing to serve once a month, please contact Tina Melville at
  2. Kid’s Ministry Team- We have a growing number of young children who are eager to learn about Jesus in Sunday School.  If you think, I might enjoy sharing Jesus’ love with kids, please reach out to Meredith Stith at
  3. Video and Technology Team- We need volunteers to do everything from running the computer that puts the words on the screen to operating our livestreaming video system (which is actually much simpler than it sounds).  To learn more about the Video and Technology Team, please contact Larry Melville at

I hope that you’ll continue to worship with us for AT LEAST one more Sunday at 9:30am at!

Blessings in the wilderness,

Pastor Andy Blacksher

Connect, Grow and Serve…

Join us next Wednesday, March 31st from 10:00-2:00 for a church workday. In order to prepare for our first in-person service on Easter, we will gather together to clean, organize, do minor repairs, storage clear out, etc… so we’ll be ready to open the doors the following Sunday.   If you are able to attend, please RSVP by email to or leave a message at 816-348-9454. We hope to see you here!

Remember that we will resume in-person worship on Easter Sunday, April 4th.  Even after that date you will continue to be able to worship with us online every Sunday morning at 9:30am at

We are getting excited about the prospect of in-person services again.  For those who still want to worship remotely, we will have a new advanced video system so the services can be live-streamed, in addition to recording.  We are looking for several volunteers to help operate the new equipment.  If you are concerned about dealing with new technology, no need. We will provide all the training you’ll need.  Please contact the church office or Larry Melville if you’d be interested in being part of this new ministry, or if you’d just like more information.  Thanks and God bless.
